Council Member Restler requests an update on Long Beach Compliance and provisional employee reduction efforts. Deputy Commissioner Porter provides information on the current status and ongoing efforts.
- As of December 31, 2023, the city became fully compliant with provisional compliance efforts
- State oversight of the city's compliance efforts has ended
- Provisions under civil service law section 65(5) have sunset
- Currently, there are slightly over 11,000 provisional employees citywide
- DCAS continues to work with city agencies to develop action plans for maintaining compliance with civil service law

Could you give us an update on where we are on Long Beach Compliance and how we're doing on the provisional employee reduction?

So as of December 31, 2023, the city, was became in full compliance, with our com provisional compliance efforts and our oversight by the state ended.

And so, you know, we're, just working to remain in compliance with civil service law.

We meet with them individually to develop plans of actions to ensure that they, remain in compliance with civil service law and that we're, supporting them, to to to reach their, their, reduction goals.
