Dr. Beverly Logan from the NYC Department of Education explains their crisis support protocol and collaboration with DOHMH in response to traumatic events affecting students and families.
- When an event occurs in a neighborhood or home and is reported to the school, DOE has a crisis support protocol in place
- If a family notifies the principal, DOE reaches out to determine what supports are needed
- DOE collaborates with DOHMH partners if there's an on-site clinic within the school or for referrals outside the school
- There is also a partnership with preventive services through the Administration for Children's Services (ACS) to support families

We also have a very good partnership with preventive services through ACS, so it's another avenue that, where we support families in that manner.
