Jamie Neckles from DOHMH explains the department's approach to trauma response and mental health services. The focus is on providing universal access to support rather than relying on a report-based system for traumatic events.
- There is no specific reporting system for traumatic events due to the substantial amount of trauma that occurs
- DOHMH takes a universal approach by offering everyone access to 988, a simple call-to-action for mental health support
- The department assumes trauma is occurring in the city and aims to provide convenient ways for people to reach out whenever they want
- This approach gives individuals control over when and how they seek support, recognizing that people process traumatic events differently

So, I think I, understand your question and and I would say that there is there is no reporting system for traumatic events.
0:39:11
Sadly, there's, you know, substantial amounts of trauma that occur.
0:39:16
And so we take a a universal approach by offering everybody, this, very simple call to action, 988, rather than, starting with a report of trauma.
0:39:28
Assume that there is trauma occurring in our city, and offering people a convenient way to reach out whenever they want.
0:39:36
So not a report based system.
0:39:39
We're proposing just a universal access.

Okay.
0:39:42
And then is there but I yeah.
0:39:44
So I guess my question, if I could thank you for helping me clarify my thoughts because I don't always think clearly.

But how do we, like, is DOHMH proactively like, let's just say there's, a shooting that happens in the community or in a school or something that has an impact in the local community.
0:40:03
Is is DOHMH or any agents or DOE, are you all actively, going to the families of those communities to say, Hey, by the way, these services are available to everyone?
0:40:14
Is there a way to streamline that or to, you know, better communicate that?
0:40:20
I don't know.
