We may be able to help with a number of things and, which brings me to the partnerships and community engagement.
0:38:07
The Healthy NYC annual report highlights the importance of partnerships in achieving the campaign's goals.
0:38:12
Can you elaborate on the specific roles and responsibilities of the supporters and champions?
Michelle Morse
0:38:17
Absolutely.
0:38:18
We'd be happy to do that.
0:38:20
We really do acknowledge and recognize that Healthy NYC has to be a multisectoral, multiagency partnership.
0:38:27
The health department alone cannot move, the city towards the goals, and so we're thankful for all of our sister agency partners and external stakeholders as well.
0:38:37
There's 2 categories of partner external partners for Healthy NYC.
0:38:41
There's a supporter category and there's also a champion category.
0:38:45
We now have almost 30 champions and supporters signed up for Healthy NYC, and we continue to, bring in new champions and supporters as the campaign continues.
0:38:56
So I expect that number to be even higher the next time, I'm here to testify in front of counsel.
0:39:02
I would also just acknowledge that some of those partners include organizations that have been doing this work for quite some time, including the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and many others.
0:39:13
And so we're thankful to have partners like them, again, knowing that the more we can get all of the rows rowing in the same direction across society and across sectors, the more likely we are to achieve our goal of extending life expectancy to at least 83 years by 2030.
Lynn Schulman
0:39:29
What's the difference between a supporter and a champion?
Michelle Morse
0:39:33
Supporters are really, helping to get the message out across their partnerships.
0:39:38
They're, thinking as employers often about what they can specifically do in their own realm, And champions are really choosing to focus on one particular issue or one, particular commitment that they're making and and often involve, resources from that organization as well.
0:39:54
But we see both supporters and champions as really, important, and and noteworthy partners to this campaign.
Lynn Schulman
0:40:02
No.
0:40:02
I because I I went through the list and I'm very impressed, the New York Academy of Medicine, which you should totally utilize.
Lynn Schulman
0:40:10
Yes.
Lynn Schulman
0:40:10
I met the, president recently, and she said that she would love to partner with us on anything that they can do.
0:40:20
So we should, you know, they do a lot of, they have a lot of data.
0:40:25
They, you know, so we should definitely utilize them and see what they can contribute.
0:40:29
The other I saw NYU was on there.
0:40:32
Again, these are also institutions that have clinical trials for many things, that we should talk to them about.
0:40:39
And they and they want to, you know, they wanna contribute.
0:40:43
I mean, I've spoken to a lot of them.
0:40:45
A number of people have approached me.
0:40:47
So if there's any way that I can help in that regard, we can talk about that.
0:40:52
I noticed H and H was not on the list.
0:40:54
Is there a reason for that?
0:40:55
Or
Michelle Morse
0:40:56
H and H is definitely a partner for healthy NYC.
0:40:59
They've been involved in many different ways, whether it's data or partnership, in other ways.
0:41:05
And I will also acknowledge, you know, NIAM and the president Anne Kurth have been great partners to us already.
0:41:11
They hosted our September 25th symposium on addressing maternal health, and are partnering with us on multiple different research, and other types of investigations.
0:41:21
I will say the clinical trials piece that you just raised, chair Schulman, is really important.
0:41:27
That is much more in the realm of health and hospitals than us at the health department.
0:41:30
That's true.
0:41:31
But we have lots of different ways that we're already collaborating with, health and hospitals as well.
