But there was a law that was passed in 2017.
2:07:18
So we're going back to that law again because it's a law.
2:07:21
Right?
2:07:21
A law asks you to do something or else there'll be consequences.
2:07:24
And here we are in 2024.
2:07:28
And a lot of these, we have not met the threshold.
2:07:33
And it's alarming for us, and that's why we're sitting here having this hearing.
2:07:38
So, I just wanna know what are the timelines and what is the what is the next steps moving forward in having that goal, because I'm sure council member Lewis will agree we're gonna come back to find out the numbers and seeing where we have improvement because it's part of the curricula to make sure these students are getting their health education.
2:08:01
There's for me, there's never any excuses when we don't follow the law.
2:08:05
Right?
2:08:05
So if I break the law, there are consequences.
2:08:07
I just don't understand why there isn't any accountability and responsibility in providing the information and the data to drive policy.
2:08:15
Like you, I was an educator.
2:08:17
Like you, you were principal.
2:08:19
And we know data is what drive our schools.
2:08:22
Right?
2:08:23
They said don't be ashamed of your data.
2:08:25
I'm I'm happy you're not ashamed to share your data, which is a good thing.
2:08:28
From that data, how do we build to get where we need to go?
Despina Zaharakis
2:08:33
Make it act to we need this actionable data.
Rita Joseph
2:08:36
And we will visit to make sure the data is where it needs to be because we feel that this is so important, very, very important to both of us.
2:08:45
And that's why we're here today, especially around young people being trafficking.
2:08:50
I want I definitely support the council members, chair Lewis's reso.
2:08:56
It's a it's a ongoing crisis.
2:08:59
So, I think that's it for me.
2:09:04
Thank you.
2:09:05
Council member Lewis?
2:09:06
Chair Lewis, anything?
