We are in the throes of a housing crisis, an affordability crisis with a near zero citywide vacancy rate for the most affordable housing.
0:31:13
If you lose your affordable home today, you will not find another tomorrow.

That is why our vote today, colleagues, to overhaul the city zoning code to enable the creation of a little more housing in every neighborhood paired with $5,000,000,000 in investments that our speaker negotiated on this council's behalf is so important.
0:31:35
Our actions here today will aid tens of thousands of New Yorkers.
0:31:40
Colleagues, I urge you to think big picture as you cast your votes today.

A no vote is no to $5,000,000,000 for more deeply affordable housing, housing vouchers stabilizing over 20,000 families, expanded homeownership opportunities, stabilization of Mitchell Lama's infrastructure, neighborhood planning, all secured by our speaker.
0:32:03
A no vote is no to 80,000 more homes in the next 10 years.
0:32:09
This isn't about any one of us as individuals or even our own political calculus.
0:32:16
It isn't it isn't even about the community that we might represent.
0:32:20
A yes vote today is a vote for all New Yorkers.
0:32:25
I want to thank all of our advocates to our speaker for your extraordinary leadership in getting us to this point and to all the staff who worked to get city of yes and city for all to the point it is today.
0:32:39
Colleagues, let's do the right thing and I will mention that I have 3 bills that are also companion bills to city of yes.
