Okay.
0:22:47
I wanna mention we've been joined by council member Osei.
0:22:51
So here we are having a hearing on these two laws.
0:22:54
I guess the concern again that I would have is if we're gonna expand the agency's purview in these new areas, we don't wanna do it and then not have enforcement.
0:23:04
So, related specifically to these two pieces of legislation, how would you propose doing enforcement given the resources you currently have?
Vilda Vera Mayuga
0:23:15
We do need more resources.
0:23:17
I I think to be effective, I think it's important to remember.
0:23:20
Right?
0:23:20
Any new mandate or any expansion, we are going to wanna be properly resourced to accomplish the the goal of the of the legislations.
0:23:29
And we 100% support this expansion because we have seen during the last year what a tremendous positive impact it has had in the life of real New Yorkers on individuals receiving this increasing pay and make sure that they can have a roof over their heads and food on their table.
0:23:46
Right?
0:23:47
So as we move forward, one of the key components of this legislation as we know it right now and that will be expanded is the use of our data scientists.
0:23:56
Right?
0:23:56
I mean, when we are proactively monitored, we are not relying solely on complaints.
0:24:03
We are requiring these apps to submit reports to us that show us the data that we need to have so that we can monitor and be attentive to any issues that we see raised.
0:24:15
We have accomplished, you know, those numbers that we shared before, yes, on the restitution and the penalties, and we are ongoing with some of the investigations.
0:24:24
So we will continue to do this data driven approach so that we can be vigilant as to any violations and take any proper actions.
0:24:35
There are outstanding issues that we do look forward to address with this council as it relates to, for example, some tipping and, like, deactivations, things like that that we wanna make sure that are addressed as well.
0:24:47
So I think we started with quite the legislation, groundbreaking, making an incredible impact and difference in the whole industry, all positive.
0:24:57
And now we're gonna keep adding to it together with the city council and address any issues that come up.
