Deputy Commissioner Elizabeth Wagoner explains how the agency monitors compliance with the minimum pay rate law through monthly reports from delivery apps. This system allows for more effective oversight compared to other types of enforcement.

  • The law was designed to allow for monitoring compliance through monthly reports
  • Reports include data on money paid to workers, trip time, on-call time, and other statistics
  • This monitoring system provides confidence in the $500 million increase in worker pay
  • The approach differs from other types of enforcement by providing more direct access to relevant data

I do wanna also emphasize with this law, it was designed in a way with the minimum pay rate specifically, it was designed to allow us to monitor compliance, and so we are receiving, monthly reports from the apps where we're able to see exactly how much money they are paying workers, the amount of trip time, on call time, etcetera, a number of statistics that show us, that that we are not getting in other types of enforcement that we do.

And so it's with confidence that we are able to say that workers are being paid 500,000,000 more or have received 500,000,000 more.
