Good afternoon, everybody.
2:48:54
Thank you for this opportunity.
2:48:57
I ride a bicycle as a course of life.
2:49:01
I go to the bank.
2:49:03
I do my shopping.
2:49:04
And I do anything else I have to do.
2:49:07
And a result of the amount of these e bikes in the past 5 years is absolutely horrendous.
2:49:16
It's you take your life in your hands, particularly in our area of Council District 30.
2:49:22
69th Street is a terror.
2:49:24
Grand Avenue was a terror.
2:49:26
They even cut off the school children crossing the streets.
2:49:31
Second Avenue in Manhattan, for God's sakes, that may have been improved but all it's done is make a speedway for these e bikes.
2:49:40
And I say very simply what should be done if a vehicle, and a bicycle is a vehicle, if it is powered by other than the human body, it should be registered, licensed, insured, made to comply with all motor vehicle standards, and the operators should be trained and made to perform and comply with all regulations.
2:50:08
It the whole thing is just out of this world and it's impossible to go across the street without looking 2 ways, twice.
2:50:17
And I do thank an MTA bus driver for stopping me from crossing Grand Avenue when an e bike went through a red light and would have plowed me down and made mincemeat out of me.
