Thank you very much for having us.
5:43:40
I actually amended my statement a bit because you asked about, data and different states and what they are doing.
5:43:48
And I actually did some research on this.
5:43:51
There was a study done by UC Berkeley on evaluating the linkage to under reporting pedestrian bicycle injuries.
5:44:01
And I have it and I will submit it with my, testimony.
5:44:07
And they are severely underreported.
5:44:10
So this is the problem you're going to have.
5:44:12
You're not going to have correct reporting.
5:44:16
Also, the NTSB the NTSB has or the NTSB has done a recent study showing the prevalence of accidents with e scooters and e bikes.
5:44:32
Okay?
5:44:32
So they are on top of this.
5:44:35
They see this as a serious issue, the NTSB.
5:44:39
Okay?
5:44:41
This is a serious health issue for all of us in New York and across the country and indeed in other states.
5:44:50
And I did do some research on this.
5:44:52
New Jersey has pending legislation.
5:44:55
As of February 2024, New Jersey legislators introduced bill s 2292 proposing mandatory registration and insurance for all e bike classes.
5:45:08
The bill has passed the State Senate's Transportation Committee and is waiting to be ratified by the entire Senate.
5:45:17
In Huntington Beach, California, where I used to live in near LA, the city council approved an ordinance granting law enforcement the discretion to issue civil and criminal citations for unsafe, bike operation.
5:45:33
It's so bad out there.
5:45:35
This includes their authority to impound bikes and it goes on.
5:45:39
Santa Monica and Paris have done this Thank you, miss.
