Karl Wojciechowski, a resident of Riverdale in the Northwest Bronx, testified against Intro 606 and in favor of Intro 1131 regarding e-bike regulations. He emphasized the importance of e-bikes for his family's transportation needs and argued that the proposed licensing and registration requirements would not improve safety.
- Wojciechowski highlighted that cars and trucks pose a greater safety risk than e-bikes, despite being licensed.
- He advocated for holistic, engineered street design solutions rather than relying on selective law enforcement.
- Wojciechowski supported Intro 1131 as a more rational approach to establishing rules for micromobility devices and improving street safety for all users.

Hi.
7:06:08
My name is Karl Wojciechowski.
Karl Wojrahowski
7:06:09
I live in the Northwest Bronx.
7:06:11
I live in Riverdale.
7:06:12
My wife and I have 2 young daughters.
7:06:14
We don't own a car.
7:06:15
We we we take transit.
7:06:17
We walk, and, we have 2 ebikes.
7:06:19
We also use ebikes.
7:06:20
Ebikes.
7:06:21
We do everything from buying groceries to visiting friends, taking the kids to school.
7:06:26
And without the ebikes, you know, it's really hilly up here in the northwest Bronx.
7:06:29
I don't think we'd be able to bike.
7:06:30
So ebikes are really essential for us.
7:06:32
And I oppose intro 606 because I don't see how this makes anybody safer.
7:06:38
As many other people have said, when I when I walk my daughter to school in the morning, I'm not worried about e bikes.
7:06:42
I'm not looking out for e bikes.
7:06:43
I'm looking out for cars and trucks because they are constant, and they're fully licensed.
7:06:48
The drivers are supposed to fully licensed, but they drive recklessly all the time anyways, and there don't seem to be any consequences for them.
7:06:54
So I don't think this is a a workable solution at all.
7:06:57
We need holistic engineered street design solutions, and we can't be dependent on disparate and highly selective law enforcement.
7:07:05
You know, I I think HO 606 is backwards and wrong.
7:07:08
It's a knee jerk approach.
7:07:09
It'll make everyone less safe and does nothing to address the many motorists who drive recklessly.
7:07:15
1131 seems like the common sense rational approach to, establishing rules for micro mobility devices and engineering our streets and to make it safe for everybody whether they're in a car, on a bike, walking, whatever.
7:07:26
So I oppose intro 606.
7:07:29
Thank you.
