This is not about me because nobody can give me back what I have lost.
4:21:51
It's about safety of pedestrians.
4:21:54
My name is Sonya Poe.
4:21:56
My husband and I were hit by an e scooter while walking this summer.
4:22:01
My husband got traumatic brain injury.
4:22:04
He was unconscious 4 days and spent days spent 10 days in intensive care in a hospital.
4:22:12
I didn't know if he would survive.
4:22:15
Later, I didn't know if he would recover.
4:22:18
He's still not working.
4:22:21
I had a broken nose and shoulder and foot injuries.
4:22:25
Imagine how fast they can go to cause such injuries.
4:22:31
We both have trauma and we are terrified to be outside in New York City.
4:22:38
It's too stressful even to go to a grocery store.
4:22:44
We have to have rules for e vehicles.
4:22:47
They are not the same thing as regular bikes.
4:22:51
Even if they are not in the legal category of motor vehicles, there must be responsibility and consequences if they hurt someone.
4:23:03
They took over our sidewalks and our parks.
4:23:08
It's so complicated for walkers to get across the street.
4:23:12
If we don't do anything soon, the number of victims is going to increase and that's obvious.
4:23:20
Let's work on this together.
4:23:24
Thank you.
