Council Member Williams inquires about CCHR's data on wage disparities across race and gender in New York City, and JoAnn Kamuf Ward explains the limitations of CCHR's data collection.
- CCHR does not hold comprehensive wage disparity information across the city
- The agency only has access to wage information in individual cases where discrimination is alleged
- CCHR lacks the capacity, mandate, or ability to request widespread wage information from employers

She wants to know what day what data does the commission have on current wage disparities in New York City across race and gender?
JoAnn Kamuf Ward

Sorry.

Can you ask that again?
1:03:42
I didn't catch the question.

Why?

We only hold the information in if it comes up in an individualized case where someone is saying they have differential terms and conditions on the base of their protected category, then an investigation could surface the pay to comparators, but there's no we don't have capacity to or, I think, the mandate or possibility of requesting that information writ large from employers.
