Council Member Williams inquires about the distribution of employment-related inquiries across different types of complaints and protected classes, as well as why such a high percentage reach the complaint stage.
- Disability and retaliation remain the top two categories for complaints filed
- Spikes in inquiries occurred after amendments to the Fair Chance Act and salary transparency laws
- Over 60-70% of employment inquiries reach the complaint stage, possibly due to the higher number of protected classes in employment compared to other areas

And then in terms of inquiries, we've seen a spike with amendments, such as the amendments to the Fair Chance Act and then amendments to salary transparency.

I think for first off, the number of protected classes in the employment jurisdiction is higher than any of the other jurisdictions, and it has been continually amended, over the last 5 years to expand those protections as opposed to the other areas of our law.
