Paul Rush discusses the pre-considered bill that would require DEP to create a comprehensive stormwater plan and dashboard, expressing support for the goals while raising concerns about details and timeline.
- The bill complements existing planning requirements and new stormwater map requirements set forth in recent legislation.
- DEP has been taking a holistic approach to managing stormwater, which has become increasingly challenging due to climate change.
- While DEP plans to develop a comprehensive stormwater plan, they cannot commit to the details or timelines in the bill until they understand how it relates to existing stormwater mapping work and ensure available funding.
- DEP is willing to work with the chair on the details of the legislation.
