Today, I'm introducing 2 pieces of legislation I hope you will all support.
1:24:52
The first is a resolution calling on the president to take action on the collection of biometric data to harm and suppress people.
1:24:59
This is especially important to address in the brief window of time before the next Trump presidency.
1:25:05
We know that in 2020, during the first t one administration, he expanded the collection of biometric data for those seeking US citizenship, now emboldened with a promised shock, shock and awe approach to immigration policy, we can anticipate the worst with regards to broad and sweeping data collection that will not only put Americans at risk, but risk of the violation of our constitutional rights.
1:25:31
Secondly, I'm introducing a zero emissions port feasibility study.
1:25:35
While New York City lags behind other port cities like Los Angeles on making bold and transformative changes that bring us closer to our climate goals, New York City now has a unique opportunity to reframe our thinking around port operations as we undergo planning work, such as at the site of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal.
1:25:55
This once in a generation project can and should be recreated as a green zero emission working waterfront that considers not only the land, but its people.
1:26:04
We can have livable, breathable communities that generate dignified, productive employment for our community members.
1:26:11
I encourage you all to sign on to resolution 690 and intro 1143.
1:26:16
And I'd also like to mention standing in solidarity with the Amazon Teamster workers and all workers fighting for justice.
1:26:23
Thank you.
