Thank you so much, and good afternoon again.
1:13:12
Today is a bittersweet day for me.
1:13:15
My chief of staff, Casey Addison, is leaving the council at the end of this year after 3 years as my chief of staff and more than a decade in city government.
1:13:26
Casey first joined the council working in what was then the policy and innovation division in central staff.
1:13:32
She then became a policy analyst staffing the committees on public safety and contracts.
1:13:36
She's probably the only person I've met in my life who is a proud self proclaimed contracts nerd, although I'm sure council member Brewer might be a close second.
1:13:45
She then spent a few years working for public advocate Jumaane Williams running his legislation policy shop during the pandemic where she notably worked to pass the racial impact study bill that has fundamentally changed land use in our city.
1:13:57
And much to his dismay, Casey then left his office when I asked her to become my chief of staff when I first entered the council.
1:14:03
Casey is a brilliant, compassionate, hardworking, strategy oriented leader, someone who has delivered every single day for the more than 170,000 New Yorkers who called District 35 their home.
1:14:14
She definitely navigated an influx of nearly 3,000 new arrive newly arrived migrants in Clinton Hill to ensure they had culturally sensitive services, and she addressed quality of life issues that came from the sudden residential increase.
1:14:26
And she kept my office running smoothly and efficiently when I went on parental leave last year.
1:14:31
I'll never have the words to truly express my gratitude, but I hope you know that I couldn't have made it through these first three years without you.
1:14:37
From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Casey.
