Thank you, majority leader.
1:30:11
Today, I'm proud to introduce 2 important pieces of legislation into 1156, which ensures fair wages and benefits for construction workers on city funded projects.
1:30:23
These workers are the foundation of our city and they deserve a fair compensation.
1:30:27
This bill promotes job stability, reduces income inequality, and strengthens our local economy by balancing economic growth with workforce needs, ensuring its benefits excuse me, ensuring it benefits everyone equitably.
1:30:42
I'm grateful to my colleagues and the NYC District Council of Carpenters for supporting prevailing wages.
1:30:48
Let's do the work to make sure that this actually becomes reality.
1:30:51
2nd, I'm also introducing reso 696 designating the Friday before Mother's Day as community based organization day.
1:31:00
CBOs provide essential services, childcare, social support, and casework for our most vulnerable residents.
1:31:07
These nonprofits reflect our city's diversity and resilience, yet their workers face challenges like low pay, job stress, and high turnover rates.
1:31:16
I'm proud to co prime this resolution with council member Williams and Stevens, and this resolution was inspired by one of my constituents, reverend doctor Kendricks, whose dedication to our community reminds us of the importance of honoring CBOs.
1:31:30
CBO Day will celebrate these vital organizations citywide and amplify their voices.
1:31:35
Thank you, and I urge your support for these measures to uplift those who build our city and care for our communities.
1:31:41
And lastly, I would just, like say, good luck to my colleague, Carmen Joerger.
1:31:48
You've been a blessing, a member coming in and you sat behind me.
1:31:51
And I did have a story similar to Holden at that time, but I won't, take too much time to talk about that.
1:31:57
But thank you everyone.
