Good afternoon, everyone.

Today, as we co name the various street names of our city, I wanna highlight one that is representative of our hip hop culture.

Today, we vote on the co naming of the intersection of 100 and ninth Street and Fifth Avenue to honor a man who became whose voice became a global anthem for celebration, unity, and unapologetic joy.
1:01:04
It's only right that we rename this corner Isaac Freeman the third, AKA Fat Man Scoopway, in recognition of a coach or a giant who represented the very heartbeat of Harlem, who was also a personal friend of mine.
1:01:17
Fat Man Scoop was more than just a voice.
1:01:18
He was an energy, a movement, a force that carried Harlem's spirit to every arena and every stadium that across the world.
1:01:26
His voice commanded attention, not just because it was loud, but because it was powerful, undeniable, and rooted in authenticity.
1:01:34
And that's Harlem.
1:01:35
That's who we are.
1:01:36
But beyond the music and the accolades, this moment is about legacy.
1:01:41
This street sign will stand as a reminder to every child, every dreamer, every hustler walking these blocks That you don't have to leave Harlem behind to be great.
1:01:51
You can take Harlem with you and still win.
1:01:54
So today we honor not just Fat Man Scoop's career, but his impact.
1:01:58
We thank him for reminding us that our voices matter, that Harlem's creativity is limitless, and that no matter where we go in this world, we bring Harlem with us.
1:02:10
And on that I vote I on all.
