Innovation East aims to advance the city's goals of growing the life science sector along First Avenue. The project will replace an outmoded public health lab with a modern commercial life science facility, fostering job creation and providing meaningful ground floor activation.
- The project has received support from Manhattan Community Board 6, Manhattan Borough President, and the City Planning Commission
- The existing public health lab will be relocated to Harlem in 2026
- Construction of Innovation East is expected to be completed around 2030

Innovation East has received support from Manhattan Community Board 6, from the Manhattan borough president, Mark Levine, and from the city planning commission, bringing us one step closer to realizing the city's long term plan to create a new public health lab in Harlem and a modern commercial life science building at 455 First Avenue.

The public health lab will be relocated to its new purpose built facility in 2026, after which, demolition at 455 First Avenue can begin, And construction of Innovation East would be completed in approximately 2030.
