Council Member Schulman inquires about H+H's preparations for potential changes in federal funding under the new administration. Dr. Katz discusses the potential challenges and uncertainties.
- There's concern about maintaining the same level of federal contribution that enables H+H to provide equal care to all patients
- Dr. Katz notes that healthcare is a bipartisan concern, but support for low-income healthcare may be at risk
- H+H's ability to provide the same standard of care regardless of insurance status is unique and may be challenging to maintain with reduced federal support

You know, speaking of which, when you brought that up, what is, H and H doing in terms of the new federal government that's gonna take over in a couple in another week or so in terms of the federal dollars that H and H gets, and how is that gonna affect the doctors and and patient care?

Well, I think it could be, you know, very difficult.
1:15:03
I mean, on on one hand, whether you're a Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal, everybody cares about health care for themselves and their family.
1:15:15
Mhmm.
1:15:16
And, frankly, hospitals and drug companies and tech companies are big business.
1:15:21
Right?
1:15:21
And they are right.
1:15:23
They are interested in selling their drugs.
1:15:25
They are interested in selling their stents.
1:15:28
So on one hand, I feel like there will be, you know, a push to keep that going.
1:15:35
On the other hand, the interest in low income people and the various ways that I mean, New York is unique because New York City, due to people like you, provide, the same standard of health care, I can prescribe anything for an uninsured person that I can prescribe for an insured person.
1:15:57
I mean, I can't prescribe anything.
1:15:59
It has to be the right indication.
1:16:01
Right.
1:16:01
But as long as it's the correct indication, I can prescribe anything.
1:16:06
I mean, that doesn't that doesn't exist in other places.
1:16:09
I mean, there are, you know, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, you know, that's probably about it, where there is one standard of care in other places.
1:16:20
People who are poor are just expected to get by with less.
1:16:26
And I I don't know that we're going to be able to get the same federal contribution, that enables us with your contribution as New York City leaders to do
