Molly Schaeffer and Kelly Yzique Zea from OASO discuss their ongoing state and federal advocacy efforts for immigrant rights. They outline their focus areas and strategies for both current and future administrations.
- Federal advocacy focuses on TPS, work authorization, and expediting work permits
- State advocacy primarily centers on securing funding for immigrant services
- The office created an advocacy strategy for the lame duck session of Congress
- They are analyzing the potential impacts of the incoming administration and preparing a new advocacy strategy accordingly
- Protection for DACA recipients and dreamers is also part of their advocacy efforts

So, yes.
2:11:40
We we continue to be engaged in both state and federal advocacy.
2:11:44
You know, we're very, tied into TPS advocacy.
2:11:48
I think the mayor has been very clear.
2:11:49
We want people to be able to work whatever gets people the ability to work quicker and faster and better.
2:11:55
That's continues to be our main focus of our federal advocacy, and on the state side, it's really on funding.
2:12:01
But I'll hand it over to Kelly if there's anything else you
UNKNOWN
2:12:04
wanna add.
Kelly Yzique Zea
2:12:05
Hi, chair.
2:12:06
My name is Kelly Sikase.
2:12:07
I'm the director of migration policy at OASO.
2:12:10
And yeah.
2:12:11
So we had created a advocacy strategy for the lame duck session, which would, like Molly mentioned, director Schaeffer mentioned, it is going to be focusing a lot on TPS.
2:12:20
It focused on TPS, work authorization, and also on, you know, pushing administration to finalize rules that would, expedite, work permits, and also protection for DACA and dreamers.
2:12:33
And as we're going into an income on come incoming administration, we're also kinda analyzing, what that is going to look like in the makeup and then create a advocacy strategy for that as well.
