Christopher Leon Johnson testified in support of Intro 780, but mainly focused on the need for protecting undocumented migrants when they file complaints with the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). He expressed concern about potential retaliation against migrants by community-based organizations, particularly through reporting to ICE.
- Highlighted the Worker Justice Project as an organization with potential issues, citing negative Google reviews
- Called for legislation to prevent retaliation against undocumented migrants who file complaints with DCWP
- Urged Council Member Sandy (likely referring to Sandy Nurse) to take action to protect migrants from ICE retaliation when filing complaints

Good afternoon, council member Menon, next speaker Menon.
0:38:46
My name is Christopher Leon Johnson.
0:38:48
I'm here to support city nurses bill, intro 1180.
0:38:51
Yeah.
0:38:52
She's gonna be next speaker, bro.
0:38:53
You we all know it.
0:38:55
But I'm here to support a bill.
0:38:56
But the one thing that I'm asking Sandy to do, because I know she's the master of introducing 40,000 bills to get around one bill, just like what intro 606 with the Liberty's does, that she need to introduce a bill to protect the migrants, the undocumented migrants, when they file complaints at the DWCP because I have a big feeling that since this is Donald Trump last, term as president, I believe that there's a lot lot of community based organizations that, to protect themselves from the, from migrants complaining about them, they're gonna file statuses with ICE.
0:39:33
They're gonna file complaints with ICE.
0:39:37
So what we need to start doing is make sure that there's no retaliation against any undocumented, migrants that file, complaints with the DWCP because I have a big feeling that they're gonna be retaliated against by these community based organizations.
0:39:50
And I'll name one right here.
0:39:51
It's a worker justice project that if you look at the reviews on, Google, there's many reviews of them being slandered, being slammed because they're not paying their members or they're not, getting paid for what they're doing.
0:40:05
So I've been feeling that there's a number of these members at that nonprofit work justice project that is not paying their members, and then they then we file complaints.
0:40:14
I believe that the executive director, will be file will be calling ICE to try to get those people deported.
0:40:21
So when we start doing, yeah, we have to get these tickets out and know what's going on with tickets, but we have to make sure when the, undocumented migrants stop filing tickets that they get they don't get retaliated by ICE.
0:40:33
There's no retaliation by ICE at all, with these members and, that's all I gotta say.
0:40:38
I hope you do the right thing, Sandy, and protect these migrants.
0:40:40
I love the migrants too.
0:40:42
So thank you, speaker Munin, for this hearing and enjoy your day.
