Council Member Chris Banks raises concerns about multiple denied requests for speed bumps and traffic lights in his district, asking about alternative solutions for addressing speeding issues.
- Margaret Forgione from DOT explains that speed humps can be denied due to lack of speeding incidents or physical constraints like numerous driveways.
- DOT assures that they consider other traffic calming measures from their 'toolbox' when speed humps are not feasible.
- The department encourages the council member to provide a list of specific locations for further review and potential alternative solutions.

Also, traffic lights, that have been denied, and with no other solution.
1:33:07
They're just denied, but still the, homeowners and residents have complained about the the speeding that's taken place on some of these blocks.
1:33:19
What's done?
1:33:19
So if a speed bump is denied on a particular block, is there any further talk about any other type of, devices that can be put in place to reduce speeding, or is it just a denial and, come back to us later?
Margaret Forgione
1:33:38
So speed humps can be denied for a few reasons.
1:33:41
1, generally, the reason is that we are not finding the incidence of speeding.
1:33:48
Another challenge sometimes can be if the street itself has a lot of driveways or other places that make it difficult to place the speed hump.
1:33:56
But if the community especially if we do see speeding and we can't put in a speed hump, we will look to see what other measures potentially could be put into place.
1:34:04
There there's other traffic calming that we have in our toolbox that we can do that.
1:34:08
So if you know of certain ones yourself,
Michael Capasso
1:34:10
but get
Chris Banks

1:34:11
Yeah.
Margaret Forgione
1:34:11
Get us the list.
Chris Banks
1:34:12
And and when when when when is a, speed cam taken into consideration?
