Council Member Sandy Nurse asks Acting Commissioner Javier Lojan about the status of a program addressing "no man's land" areas with green spaces. Lojan confirms the program, known as the Targeted Neighborhood Task Force (TNT), is still active and successful. Nurse then requests to add a specific area in her district to the program's list for regular cleaning.

  • The program involves taking photos and receiving daily and weekly updates on cleaning operations.
  • Nurse specifically mentions the area where Atlantic Avenue and North Conduit diverge as a chronic problem area.
  • Lojan agrees to look into adding the area to their permanent list for cleaning, acknowledging the challenges of maintaining cleanliness in such locations.

Thank you, chair.
0:44:40
I just I had a one question about what happened or what is the status of the program that was meant to address the kind of no man's land areas of, roadways that have, like, these green spaces.
0:44:56
I remember the the former commissioner is, like, very big on this, and then I I wasn't sure if I can't it's been a while, so I can't remember.
0:45:03
But, just wondering what the status of that is right now.
Javier Lojan
0:45:07
Yeah.
0:45:07
So I I think you're you're referring to the targeted neighborhood task force, AT and T.
Susan Zhuang
0:45:12
AT and T.
Javier Lojan
0:45:13
Yeah.
0:45:13
No.
0:45:13
That's actually one of we still have it going.
Shaun Abreu
0:45:16
Okay.
Javier Lojan
0:45:16
It's really successful.
0:45:18
You know, our cleaning operations team and our our chief there, chief Pitts, gives me a call out daily and weekly on it.
0:45:25
You know, we take photos.
0:45:26
It's great.
0:45:27
I think we've highlighted some of it in our year year end.
0:45:30
I think we posted MMR now.
0:45:32
So, no, it's still going strong.
0:45:33
It's really successful.
Sandy Nurse
0:45:35
And that is just based on calls, or or is there, like, a set of, like, targeted areas that you go to all the time?
Javier Lojan
0:45:43
Yeah.
0:45:44
There's there's a set of areas, but, you know, sometimes we get new areas that pop up.
0:45:48
So if there's any areas in your district
Sandy Nurse
0:45:49
Can I add an area?
Javier Lojan
0:45:51
Yeah.
0:45:51
Sure.
Sandy Nurse
0:45:51
Okay.
0:45:51
I would love well,
Sandy Nurse
0:45:52
I was just curious.
0:45:53
I was like, because I remember there wasn't
Sandy Nurse
0:45:55
I wasn't sure if that program had, had funding cuts.
0:45:58
I couldn't I couldn't recall.
0:45:59
Like, time is always hard to pull up in the brain.
0:46:04
At the area where Atlantic Avenue and North Conduent, diverge is, I know you all know this is like a rough area, because of the overgrowth.
0:46:15
But, you know, when it's winter and the leaves are gone and, you know, you can see all the trash there and it's just a chronic area.
Javier Lojan
0:46:24
Yeah.
0:46:24
I'd be happy to look into that and definitely address that.
Sandy Nurse
0:46:27
It it would be great to have that on the permanent list because it's just we've paid for cleaning around it, but that area is really hard and also dangerous for, kind of like the other supplemental cleaning groups to get at.
Javier Lojan
0:46:40
And just so you know, I would definitely look into that.
0:46:42
Yeah.
0:46:42
It it sounds familiar.
0:46:44
Sometimes, unfortunately, we clean it, and then it gets dirty right away.
Sandy Nurse
0:46:47
No.
0:46:48
I understand it's a hard area to get at, but that's why I'm saying if there's a set list, it'd be great to
Javier Lojan
0:46:53
add.
0:46:53
Yeah.
0:46:53
No.
0:46:53
We'll definitely look at that and and definitely see if
Sandy Nurse
0:46:55
we can add it to the list.
0:46:56
Thank you.
0:46:57
Appreciate it.
