Acting Commissioner Lojan explains DSNY's approach to maintaining supplies and stockpiles for the winter season. The department focuses on maximizing capacity rather than forecasting for small events.
- DSNY maintains a capacity of about 350,000 tons of salt
- They stock 386 gallons of calcium chloride and over 75,000 gallons of brine
- The department replenishes supplies after each event to maintain full stock
- DSNY does not forecast for small events, instead focusing on maximizing overall capacity

So we have our inventory.
0:12:33
We have, about 350,000 tons of salt capacity, 386 gallons of calcium chloride, capacity.
0:12:42
And then brine, we have over 75,000 gallons.
0:12:44
So we don't really forecast, for small events.
0:12:49
What we try to do is maximize capacity.
0:12:51
And then after every event, our operations, office replenishes that, and we make sure that we stay, you know, fully stocked.

Okay.
