- Individual organizations conduct their own internal tracking
- Cumbo recognizes the need for more comprehensive data on program outcomes and career trajectories of participants

So what are some actions that DCLA is taking, to track the progress of some of the the strategies that you laid out in your testimony.
0:28:19
We know Create NYC has a number of goals, including an update every 2 years.
0:28:27
So do you have any metrics or key indicators for these strategies for the past 3 years?
0:28:32
Do you plan to update the plan for 2024 and 2025?
0:28:36
And how do you measure success?
0:28:37
Right?
0:28:38
What is that metric?
0:28:39
What are the outcomes?
0:28:40
Are you tracking where some of these individuals are placed?
0:28:43
Are you trying to assist them, maybe into other agencies?
0:28:46
Clearly, all skills developed at a cultural institution or group is transferrable.
0:28:50
Mhmm.
0:28:50
There's no question.
0:28:51
So can you talk a little about the the metrics and outcomes and how you track that success?
Laurie Cumbo
0:28:55
I wanna thank you for that question.
0:28:57
I think what's so important about this is that for the CUNY cultural core program, we've only tracked it in the way of how many young people participate in it each year.
0:29:08
So, we've tracked that.
0:29:10
We haven't been able to, and perhaps CUNY has been able to do that, to determine
UNKNOWN
0:29:13
exactly where they are going following
Laurie Cumbo
0:29:14
their internship.
0:29:14
But we've tracked the exactly where they are going following their internship.
0:29:18
But we've tracked the number and the data in terms of how many CUNY cultural core participants there are each year.
0:29:25
Our CDF grantees, as well as our cultural institution groups, those particular organizations do their own internal tracking.
0:29:33
But I think it is a good idea to understand more about how young people are participating and flourishing in these particular, organizations and the ability to utilize their final reports to determine how they are faring with the programs.
0:29:51
Are they able to expand?
0:29:52
Are they able to utilize more young people?
0:29:55
Are the wages for the stipends going up as you pointed to?
0:29:59
Because one of the things that we've been really proud of is that these internships, for the most part, have been paid internships.
0:30:07
Whether it's CUNY Cultural Corp at $20 an hour to the ones that we mentioned, like at Roundabout Theater.
0:30:13
All of these programs are stipend led and that young people have an opportunity to earn while they're also learning.
0:30:21
And so, I appreciate that question.
0:30:24
We have to do more in terms of understanding where are our young people going while the organizations do that individually.
0:30:32
We haven't consolidated that information from all of them to do a readout report for that.
