- 75% of shopping letters are issued automatically for households meeting easily codified requirements.
- 25% of cases require manual assessment due to more complicated situations.
- The agency is continuously working to increase the number of automated letters by incorporating more data from other systems.
- Currently, there is no specific metric tracking the time from request to issuance for manual assessments, but the agency will consider implementing such tracking in the future.

So what's the gap between, I you you mentioned there's automatic, responses.
0:35:11
I guess, in terms of the overall percentage, how much are are getting automatic responses, and how much are undergoing this manual assessment?
Molly Wasow Park
0:35:20
So about 75% of the shopping letters are issued automatically.
0:35:23
So that's for households that meet, requirements that we can that are easily codified within administrative data.
0:35:32
Right?
0:35:32
So that we know somebody is on cash assistance or and and working, or that they are receiving SSI, for example.
0:35:40
All of that would, would generate an automated letter.
0:35:44
And I should say we are perpetually looking at our data.
0:35:48
What can we pull in from other systems so that we can increase the universe of of letters that are automated?
0:35:54
The ones that are not automated are for are the other 25% are clients who are in a slightly more complicated situation.
0:36:03
So for example, a single adult who meets the work hours, they are not on cash assistance right now, but we know that we'll be able to apply for a single issuance case for them at the point in time that they find an apartment.
0:36:15
That letter might be manual.
Alexa Avilés
0:36:18
Correct.
0:36:19
And are you keeping track of the the average length of time that these manual assessments are taking?
0:36:29
Again I know they're complicated, but it it's an important 25 percent to track if they're taking 6 months, a year, or, you know, I guess the time frame is important in terms of metrics and moving people along and making sure they're not getting caught.
Molly Wasow Park
0:36:44
I I don't have a metric from the point in time, that that somebody requests a letter until that is issued.
0:36:52
It is a shelter by shelter specific process.
0:36:55
I hear where you're coming from, and we'll look about look at ways whether or not that's something that is trackable going forward.
0:37:00
Thank you.
