Council Member Hudson inquires about mechanisms in place to ensure accountability and regular oversight of OAC operations. NYC Aging representatives explain their assessment and oversight processes.

  • NYC Aging conducts extensive assessments of OACs twice a year
  • Program officers visit OACs twice annually to assess premises and review records
  • Nutrition advisers also conduct biannual assessments
  • Assessments cover all aspects outlined in NYC Aging's standards
  • Technical assistance is provided to ensure programs are clear on expectations
  • NYC Aging is continuously looking for ways to improve their assessment processes

Do you have any mechanisms in place to ensure accountability and regular oversight of these OAC operations?
UNKNOWN
2:03:36
Oh, yes.
2:03:37
We do extensive assessments.
2:03:39
That's something, we're always looking at how do we also improve.
2:03:42
But, yes, we go out twice a year.
2:03:44
Our program officers go twice and then our nutritionist our our nutrition advisers go twice, and assess the premises.
2:03:51
They also look at records.
2:03:53
I mean, they look at everything that's in our standards.
2:03:55
So it's a pretty lengthy process.
2:03:57
They also provide technical assistance so that the programs are not surprised by anything on the assessments.
2:04:03
They should be very, you know, clear what's expected, and so that hopefully they can do well on these assessments.
