Director Kathleen Baer of NYPD's Special Victims Division explains the process of rescuing children from trafficking situations and involving ACS. She outlines the initial steps taken when a child is recovered from a trafficking situation.
- A minimal facts interview is conducted by the investigator to gather initial information
- The investigator determines if the situation involves trafficking
- ACS is immediately contacted to decide on placement and services for the child
- This process is followed for every case where a youth is recovered from a trafficking situation

Also, we work with ACS.

Basically, as soon as we rescue a child out of a situation.

What happens is there's a minimal fax interview done by the investigator to determine as much as as they can find out about what happened and see if this is trafficking.

And they're immediately contacting ACS to then determine where does this child go and what services are they going to be getting.
