Commissioner Strauber discusses the ideal staffing levels for the NYPD Inspector General's office, taking into account budget constraints and realistic expectations.

  • Initially, in 2022, the desired staffing level was 20-25 employees
  • Given the current budget environment, a more realistic goal is now 15-20 employees
  • Strauber acknowledges that reaching this level immediately is not feasible

Right.
0:33:54
But that's within the 9.
0:33:55
Makes sense.
0:33:56
Mhmm.
0:33:56
And so, how many vacant what would you like to see that office be in terms of if you're able to hire?
0:34:03
What would be your you I think you gave a number.
0:34:05
What what was that?
Jocelyn Strauber
0:34:06
Well, when when we when we met in 2022, I said I'd like to see 20 to 25.
0:34:11
Now that was early in my tenure and before the sort of budget environment that we've now been in for several years.
0:34:17
I think a more realistic assessment, although not not realistic in within our current staffing, would be 15 to 20.
0:34:27
That doesn't mean I think we can get to 15 to 20 immediately.
0:34:31
But I think that would be, you know, a a more realistic number now.
Gale A. Brewer

Okay.
