Council Member Williams inquires about the status of NYPD's implementation of recommendations from a 2023 report on overtime and increased risk of negative policing. Commissioner Strauber explains that the most recent data is in the annual report, with 2 out of 6 recommendations accepted but no specific policy changes made yet.
- The annual report process involves extensive back-and-forth with the police department
- Updated information on recommendation status will be available in the coming months
- Current information reflects what's described in the latest annual report

So to your point about, like, trends and things that you all have been looking into, in 2023, you released a report on NYPD over time, and the increased risk of negative policing.
1:16:34
The NYPD accepted 2 of the 6 recommendations from the report, and as of the 2024 annual report.
1:16:42
However, the NYPD has not made any specific policy changes in response to the recommendations.
1:16:48
What can you tell us about the status of the NYPD's implementation of those recommendations?
Jocelyn Strauber
1:16:54
Well, I think you're probably getting that information from the annual report, and that's gonna be the most recent data that we have about the status.
1:17:02
Mhmm.
1:17:02
There's a process that we begin probably in the next month or so, right, to start we issue the annual report generally later in the year.
1:17:11
But because it involves extensive back and forth with the police department in the next couple months, we will start the conversation with them about the status.
1:17:19
And at that point, we would have updated information.
1:17:21
But right now, what we have is, you know, the information that you just described.
