Rosamond Gianutsos, a long-time resident and First Vice Chair of Queens Community Board Two, testified against the proposed development. She highlighted concerns about accessibility, lack of public transit, and the importance of preserving green space in the area.

  • Visited the site and noted the lack of parking and public transit options
  • Emphasized the visibility and importance of existing trees on the lot
  • Stressed the community board's consistent efforts to increase green spaces in the area
  • Urged the council not to approve the proposal, suggesting alternatives like fencing and landscaping

Test testing.
0:36:30
You're on.
0:36:30
Good.
0:36:31
My name is Rosamund Gianutsos.
0:36:33
I am a over fifty year resident of District 26, and I'm here I'm on the community board.
0:36:42
I'm actually the first vice chair, but our chair has spoken well for the board.
0:36:47
And I I honestly, I wish I went over to this site on Sunday.
0:36:52
I rode over there with my bike.
0:36:54
Thank goodness.
0:36:55
Because there was no place that I could really have, you know, provisioned for parking.
0:37:00
So I don't know what kind of, resident, you know, restaurant business they anticipate having and having people get there.
0:37:08
There's no public transit nearby and so on, and there are no trees anywhere other than on this particular lot.
0:37:17
They say it's not visible from the street.
0:37:19
I'm so sorry that the PowerPoint show that I developed to explain, and what I saw is not that I can't show it to you.
0:37:31
You can clearly see the trees.
0:37:33
It's quite it appears quite clean actually.
0:37:36
Of course, in the winter, there are no leaves.
0:37:39
I did see 1 sheet of plastic with some some person or somebody or something going on far in the distant, but it is very visible from that off ramp from the North side.
0:37:53
And, it's so important for us as I have been on the community board now for five years.
0:38:03
We can't get land use and rezoning, applications, and we are always saying, well, what can we do to bring more green there?
0:38:12
These things are not weeds that are growing.
0:38:14
I mean, you can't see them.
0:38:16
They're quite developed.
0:38:18
Now they may not be, officially planted trees, and, yes, you could do a certain amount of cleanup and landscaping.
0:38:25
I've heard also from some of the architects who are members of our board saying we desperately need to put some kind of fence.
0:38:34
So please don't approve this.
