Why, like, what CUNY's motivations were really for becoming an independent institution, and perhaps some more examples of how being independent would would benefit not just the institution, but what you can provide to our students and our communities?

To begin with, you know, the governance structure was unusual for medical school.

You know, this is provided a unique opportunity and we, you know, we celebrate our roots.

As all of us, we graduate, we came from the CUNY, from City College roots.

But it comes a time.

There's a time in which you can do You know that you can do more, right?

And one of the things that we look forward to doing more to date, the only place that students could come through is through City College of New York.

We know that there's talent out within the entire CUNY.

And we think that there should be an opportunity for all students to have access to becoming a CUNY School of Medicine doctor.

So that's first and foremost.

We will be increasing pathways in, from particularly areas where educational and healthcare disparities really exist and persist.

We've done We've shown that we can be excellent in that space.

This is important for, our clinical partners.

In regards to our being able to advocate for, you know, additional clinical spaces.

It's also important to governmental agencies in regards to our ability to advocate for ourselves.

And to our philanthropic, emerging philanthropic interest in this particular school.

The it also just allows us to really go out and recruit some extraordinary faculty, and staff who commit to mission every single day.
