Council Member Bottcher inquires about the cost of transitioning CUNY School of Medicine into a freestanding medical school. Dr. Green explains that the exact cost is difficult to determine, as they've been using current funding sources for the transition.

  • The school has been utilizing existing resources for the transition
  • A recent $200,000 council grant was used for server upgrades and IT improvements
  • Dr. Green emphasizes the need for additional resources, particularly for upgrading facilities in an old building

Well, currently, that's not an easy question to answer.
1:08:20
We've actually used our current funding sources, to do the work that we've needed to do.
1:08:26
There's some things that we need there are people we need to hire.
1:08:30
Some of them are behind you that we've used are, operate have now become part of our operating budget.
1:08:38
So, but we believe that we can do a lot of that with our current funding.
1:08:43
The challenge will be if we need to make any, for instance, we're thankful to the council that gave us $200,000 last year and we've put that immediately towards the server.
1:08:55
And to upgrading our IT.
1:08:57
We're going to need to do some of those types of things, particularly in an old building.
1:09:02
I'm pretty frugal with resources.
