Because what what I learned that, you know, I visited shelters around the city.
0:52:55
And when I visit the veteran shelter, the men seem to to offer a lot.
0:53:02
That means they could they could go into and get a job, you know, in a pretty high level.
0:53:07
I've very, very, you know, talented individuals.
0:53:12
I mean, that's you don't see that in many shelters.
0:53:15
What I'm seeing in the board, and that's what separates them, and that's why, you know, we should try to get, you know, there's a lot of unions that have, you know, training facilities in that area of Long Island City.
0:53:28
It's in walking distance, in fact.
0:53:30
So if we can coordinate with those unions to try to get, you know, apprenticeships and training, these individuals in Borden especially are, have a lot to offer because many times they, one guy was in the Marines ten years, another guy was fifteen years, and they're talented in technology and other areas.
0:53:52
So they've been trained, and I just think it's it's to have men sitting around a lot, it's a shame.
0:54:00
So if we could get really a jobs program, I guess you you have some of that.
Sonya Russell
0:54:04
Yes.
0:54:05
ICL does have an employment workshop that they host for their veterans as well.
0:54:09
So I can definitely speak to their leadership specifically about the
Robert F. Holden
0:54:13
Yeah.
0:54:14
Wanna I wanna I mentioned it to ICL, but I I I know, again, it's a limited so if we can get actual help from your agency or BVS to to try to, like, just fill in the gaps and coordinate.
0:54:27
We'll bring you to some of the unions to talk and to, you know, I visited the union apprenticeship programs and they're magnificent, greatest, you know, they have beautiful spaces and there's three or four right within walking distance of board and it seems like a perfect marriage there.
Sonya Russell
0:54:44
Absolutely, we're glad to do so.
Robert F. Holden
0:54:46
All right.
0:54:48
Any other questions?
Melissa del Valle Ortiz
