Residential care and Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP)

ACS provides specialized residential care programs and has reintroduced the Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP) for older youth transitioning to independence.
- Less than 10% of children are in residential placements
- Variety of specialized residential care programs designed for youth with specific therapeutic needs
- SILP program added back to the continuum for youth ages 18 to 21
- SILP provides apartment-style placements with ongoing support and services for 12-18 months

As I mentioned earlier, less than ten percent of our children are in residential placement.

ACS and other foster care providers and our foster care providers operate a variety of specialized residential care programs designed to meet the specific needs of youth needing this level of care.

All of these placements are intended to be temporary with children stepping down to lower levels of care and ultimately returning to their families or achieving permanency with another family.
