Council Member Williams asks about MOERJ's mechanisms for receiving direct feedback or suggestions from New Yorkers. Commissioner Sherman outlines their current feedback channels and future plans.

  • MOERJ primarily receives feedback through their website and during specific engagement efforts
  • The office collaborates with the Commission on Racial Equity (CORE) to gather community feedback
  • Plans are in place for public feedback opportunities on the upcoming preliminary racial equity plan

Do you have any mechanisms to receive direct feedback or suggestions from New Yorkers and I know CORE kind of does some of this work, but just wondering if you your office also has a mechanism to receive direct feedback.

Sure, so outside of our website and when we have distinct engagement efforts, those would be the primary vehicles.

As part of the racial equity planning process as I shared, we certainly have received feedback through the Commission on Racial Equity and their community equity priorities to help inform our planning process.

And as we release the preliminary plan, we'll have vehicles for the public to directly share feedback, but we also are encouraging the public to share feedback with CORE so that they can also share that with us as part of their process.
