Council Member Crystal Hudson asks about plans to prevent future payment delays for providers. Deputy Chancellor Simone Hawkins outlines several strategies the department is implementing to improve the process.
- The administration is working to streamline the contract registration process.
- The department is building staff capacity within the division to reduce caseloads for operation analysts, enabling faster processing and better customer service.
- A new information management system is being developed to improve communication with providers and enhance internal reporting capabilities.

Okay.
1:01:59
Do you have a plan for preventing similar payment delays for providers from happening in the future?
Simone Hawkins
1:02:05
Yes.
1:02:05
I have lots of hopes and dreams.
Crystal Hudson
1:02:06
Whether for registered contracts or not?
Simone Hawkins
1:02:08
Yeah.
1:02:09
And so one of the things we're doing with the help of the administration as well is really trying to streamline the process for contract registrations.
1:02:17
That is something we do need to improve on holistically and I think that's something we've acknowledged openly.
1:02:23
When we do have a registered contract, we are working internally to build staff capacity within my division.
1:02:30
We want to ensure that we don't have as high case loads for our operation analysts so they can not only provide more direct customer service, but they can also process any requests more quickly.
1:02:41
And then systems, I think one of the pain points that have come up and I'll be again the first to admit, some of our systems are very, they run parallel to one another which requires our providers to do a lot more data entry than we would like and also it limits our ability to do reporting.
1:02:55
And so right now we're looking on releasing a new information management system.
1:03:00
We hope that help more proactive communication for providers but will also allow us to see things on the back end more quickly.
Crystal Hudson
1:03:06
Okay, thanks.
