I would just add to that that one of the examples that was given by the previous panel of a supposed program that does feed this information from the database is ceasefire, right?
3:19:40
And I can't tell you how many people I have helped that have told me that they have been intimidated by officers, approached in their neighborhoods by having detectives knocking on their door to tell them if you or any of your friends engage in anything, any crimes, we're gonna come at you with all the charges possible under law.
3:19:57
And I have had any no community member say that they liked the program or that they actually got services that helped them progress with their lives as a result of that program, right?
3:20:06
It was just straight intimidation and we know that you are part of another group and therefore we will come for all of you.
3:20:14
That's real.
3:20:15
That shows up in people's lives and that makes people change the way they behave in their own neighborhood.
3:20:19
So I don't have the way my other fellow panelists are saying an actual proposal over method, but I do know this.
3:20:26
Without the database, the police can still do what the police do.
3:20:30
They can still investigate.
3:20:31
It doesn't mean that they stop investigating, right?
3:20:34
In fact, we are now experiencing the lowest levels of shootings in the city ever and that's a collaboration.
3:20:41
It's an effort that takes place among very different groups.
3:20:43
It's not just the police.
3:20:45
But we have started to believe in credible messengers and in groups that are not tied to the police to resolve these problems.
3:20:52
And what we're saying by that is that we believe that the communities can also police themselves and we're starting to give them that resource and benefits to do that and they are showing results.
3:21:02
I would say we need to come back and double down on that.
