Council Member Hudson inquires about the Grandparent Resource Center's utilization rates over the past decade and the advertising efforts made to attract potential clients. Commissioner Cortés-Vázquez provides limited information on these topics.

  • The commissioner does not have immediate access to utilization rates for the past ten years
  • NYC Aging engaged in general outreach and education efforts for all their services, including kinship care
  • A specific bus shelter campaign for the Grandparent Resource Center was conducted in FY 2021 and FY 2022
  • The commissioner acknowledges the ongoing challenge of increasing utilization rates across all programs

Do you have the utilization rates at the GRC over the last ten years of its existence by chance?
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
0:38:56
I don't.
0:38:57
Can you maybe
Crystal Hudson
0:38:58
follow-up with that?
0:38:59
We could follow-up with that.
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
0:39:00
Okay.
0:39:02
And that being said, and not knowing exactly how the data was collected, it might be data collected, data sources and data different than what we sort of call something now.
Crystal Hudson
0:39:16
Okay.
0:39:16
So it's been ten years.
0:39:17
Understood.
0:39:18
What kind of advertising and outreach did NYC Aging engage in in order to attract potential clients and address the alleged dip in utilization rates?
0:39:29
Were you ever trying to get the numbers up?
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
0:39:34
As with all of our services, you know, we're always have each one of our local programs has a responsibility for outreach and education.
0:39:44
So the the goal is not only for kinship care, but for everything so that people can utilize programs and services at a higher rate.
0:39:54
That is an issue that we are constantly addressing.
Crystal Hudson
0:40:02
Okay.
0:40:02
Thank you.
0:40:05
Are there any data collection systems in place?
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
0:40:07

0:40:09
