Sharon Brown provides testimony on the proposed kinship care program for older adults caring for young people. She emphasizes the need for comprehensive support for both caregivers and children, focusing on resources, housing, and opportunities for personal growth.
- Advocates for adequate housing that meets the needs of both older caregivers and young children
- Suggests including resources for learning new skills (e.g., horseback riding, computers) to set up children for success
- Emphasizes that the program should be viewed as a catalyst for success rather than a "poor you" situation

Hello.
1:21:55
My name is Sharon Brown.
1:21:57
Before I start, remember Israel, defend Israel, release the hostages, let Yahweh's people go.
1:22:05
Okay.
1:22:05
The kinship program, I believe that there should be a care program.
1:22:11
Now the program is for aged adults who are helping young people, am I understanding that correctly?
Crystal Hudson
1:22:18
That is correct.
Sharon Brown
1:22:19
Okay.
1:22:20
So the aged adults are going to need things to help them aid and assist the children that they're caring for.
1:22:29
They themselves probably have difficulties and things like that and we need to make all the resources available to them as we make it available to the person that they're caring for.
1:22:41
So they would be related to them, so it could be some kind of familial resources that we have for them.
1:22:50
For instance, housing that would be adequate for both the older person and the young child.
1:22:57
Most of them have physical disabilities or needs, things that need to be met and they need finances and they shouldn't just, feel like this is some kind of program type of thing where poor you, we should have things for them to learn things, learn to ride horses, all kinds of thing, all kind of resources to let them know that you're this is not a punishment that you are not with your parents or something like that.
1:23:28
We should have financing to for them to learn computers to learn like to let them know this is the beginning of their life.
1:23:36
When they get into these kind of programs, it's not that poor woe is me, it is that we are setting you up for success.
1:23:46
So this should be a catalyst for them.
1:23:49
It shouldn't be poor you, we expect you to fail in about twenty years.
1:23:54
What we do in these programs should excel anything that we've ever had Hold
