Council Member Salamanca inquires about the logistics of food delivery and storage in NYC shelters. The discussion reveals that practices vary depending on each shelter's capabilities and contract terms with food service providers.
- Some shelters receive daily food deliveries due to limited storage or heating capabilities
- Others may have more flexible delivery schedules based on their storage and food preparation facilities
- The food service includes beverages such as water, juice, and coffee

And how does a how does the the food service provider how do they what's their system?
1:31:52
Do they just come in every day and bring in a day's worth of food breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
1:31:58
Or do they do it every week, every two weeks?
1:32:00
How does it work?
Jill Berry
1:32:01
It really varies by shelter and by their contract with the subcontractor and really has a lot to do with their food storage capabilities.
1:32:09
Some shelters have little to no storage capabilities.
1:32:14
Some shelters can heat up food, others cannot.
1:32:17
So a shelter with no food storage and inability to heat food has to get delivery of food once a day and it needs to be at the during the mealtime that the that the hot meal is being served.

Alright.
1:32:33
No.
1:32:33
It makes sense.
1:32:33
I have some transitional housing setting facilities that do not have a dining setting or, you know, or a kitchen, and so they would have to deliver daily.
1:32:43
That makes sense.
1:32:45
Beverages are included in this?
1:32:47
Water, juice?
Jill Berry
1:32:49
Yes.
Rafael Salamanca, Jr.
1:32:49

1:32:50
Okay.
