The council recently passed legislation requiring reporting on alleged incidents of sexual abuse against correction officers and Department of Corrections staff, as well as requiring DOC to implement an electronic case management system to track investigations into sexual abuse in city jails.

These bills are intended to ensure we have an accurate understanding of the scope of sexual assault and harassment against people in the DOC custody as well as DOC's investigations into allegations of sexual assault and harassment.
