Council Member Alexa Avilés discusses the relationship between city and state Indirect Source Rule (ISR) regulations. She explains that if the state passes an ISR, it will preempt the city's regulation, requiring alignment.

  • The city is keen on moving forward with its own ISR due to current momentum
  • There has been ongoing communication between city and state about how their respective ISRs will work together
  • If the state's ISR has a higher standard, the city's regulation will need to match it

So in terms of the city and state ISR, we have been talking to each other for many years.
2:30:47
As you know, the state ISR has been in conversation for a good number of years.

City and state, if the state develops an ISR and is able to pass it, obviously, they will preempt us, which means that our regulation will need to align.

Mhmm.

And it cannot it cannot be if they, let's hold a higher standard or offer, our regulation will need to then match that.
2:31:13
Right.
2:31:13
So I think we have been talking about how these two things will work together.
2:31:20
I think given that the city is is keen on moving forward and really digging into this issue, we want to continue to pursue that because we think it it's important and we have some momentum.
