Council Member Linda Lee inquires about how locations are selected for syringe litter cleanup efforts. Rebecca Linn-Walton explains the process for determining cleanup locations.
- Selection is based on a combination of data and community input
- Complaints from the public, including letters from elected officials, are taken into account
- Community boards and borough presidents can request cleanup efforts
- The department aims to respond to all requests and work collaboratively with communities
- Data from various sources, including community voices, informs decision-making

Okay.
0:30:46
And then when you work with collaborate, how do you pick the locations?
0:30:52
Is it based on complaints made by the public or is it also, you know, areas high, you know, high need areas where you know that there's going to be a lot of?
Rebecca Linn-Walton

It's all of it and when your letters come to us, we go out and we try to work on those areas as well.
0:31:06
So we definitely try to take into account data, but also data can come from community voices as well.

We've had community boards reach out, say hey can we do an effort around this, Borough presidents, whoever's asking, we always respond and we we want it to be something that we're all working on together.

Okay.
0:31:24
And then do you also if if folks have concerns about that, do they should they call 311?
0:31:30
Is that something that they would do or which is the route that they would take?
Rebecca Linn-Walton

If you see a syringe, is that the question?
Linda Lee

Yes.
