Good afternoon.
2:26:23
My name is Audeshia Ray.
2:26:24
I use theythem pronouns, and I'm the interim executive director of the New York City Anti Violence Project.
2:26:31
And I'm here to express support for all the bills that have been introduced, 1,200, 12 oh one, 12 oh three, 12 oh four, as well as the resolutions, and to emphasize that the Trans Equity Fund should get at least $10,000,000 and especially support trans led orgs.
2:26:50
But I also wanted to share that AVP, as an organization that serves LGBTQ survivors of violence, has been seeing a really major uptick in demand from our community for services and support for BIPOC, trans, and non binary people, as well as immigrant survivors.
2:27:11
And so that's becoming an increasing need that we're seeing, and so I want to pass it on to you all.
2:27:17
And also to say that this room is full of very brilliant queer and trans people who are leaders on these issues and who are already doing the work.
2:27:29
So to any extent that the city can keep funneling money towards trans led groups, that's really what we want to see.
2:27:39
The solutions exist.
2:27:41
We have them.
2:27:43
And I really would like to encourage that the council keep being in dialogue with this community about what the solutions are and how to support them.
2:27:53
In the past, ABP has been critical of bills that require creation of education mechanisms and planning and written agendas, and that's because we know what we need.
2:28:03
The Sylvia and Marsha plan that has been out for a couple of years that a lot of folks in this room collaborated on is a stunning example of that.
2:28:12
There's also a resource that I can share that ABP and the Center for Urban Pagigatty designed a couple of years ago.
2:28:21
We have hard copies of it here, and actually Andy Bowen who's now with the city helped design this.
2:28:27
This is an info sheet about how folks can access services from the city itself and what folks need to do to figure out who the liaison is and make that happen for themselves.
