Andrew Falzon testified about the pending closure of the Neponset Adult Day Health Care Center, expressing concerns about the information provided by HHC executives and the viability of the program. He highlighted discrepancies in statements about the program's financial viability and questioned the marketing efforts for the center.

  • Falzon attended an emergency town hall meeting regarding the center's closure, which is scheduled in 25 days.
  • He reported that HHC executives claimed no number of registrants would make the program financially viable, contradicting earlier statements.
  • Falzon criticized the marketing efforts, noting that a part-time social worker was responsible for marketing instead of dedicated professionals.
  • He requested that the committee hold a specific hearing on this issue.

It's a pleasure and a privilege to be here today at the request and invitation of committee member Brooks Powers regarding the pending closure of the Neponset adult day health care system.

My apologies.

Okay.

There we go.
2:30:30
Again, my apologies.
2:30:32
Yesterday yesterday, I attended council member Brooks Powers' emergency town hall meeting regarding the pending closure of the Ponset Adulte Health Care Center, which unfortunately is only twenty five days away.
2:30:51
Yesterday, we learned information from executive administrative members at HHC who oversee the McKinney nursing home, which oversees in turn the Neponset Adult Day Health Care Center, and some of that information was quite concerning.
2:31:07
I asked mister Weinstein, who is the CEO of McKinney, how many participants the program needed to remain financially viable, and I was told that there was no number of registrants that would make the, program financially viable.
2:31:23
The problem with that response is that only two months earlier, his own, managers told the community board, Queen's Community Board fourteen, that the program needed a 50 members to remain viable.
2:31:39
I asked who is responsible for doing the marketing of the program and all of the other medical model programs in the area have a marketing person.
2:31:50
I was told that it was the responsibility of the social worker who is only employed there part time, and it's not appropriate for a social worker to be doing marketing of the facility, especially when McKinney already spends $305,000 a year employing communications professionals.

To that end
