Jeanmarie Fitch advocated against the closure of Neponset Adult Day Care in the Rockaways, emphasizing the community's need for services for the medically fragile population. She questioned the decision to close the facility, citing low enrollment due to lack of contracts with MLTCs as the main issue.

  • The program has been in the community since 1988 and is crucial given the increase in senior housing in Rockaway.
  • Fitch suggested assigning a dedicated marketing person to improve the center's enrollment and growth.
  • She highlighted the confusion surrounding the closure decision, given the area's growing need for such services.

Good afternoon.
2:34:02
Thank you for, allowing me to speak.
2:34:05
And I thank Silvina Brooks Powers for the invitation.
2:34:09
I too was at the, meeting last night.
2:34:14
I've been advocating to, facilitate and stop the closure of Neponset adult day care in the Rockaways where we have a great need to service, the medically fragile population.
2:34:28
And there, the explanation we were given about the closure was, low participation, low enrollment.
2:34:36
And we identified the problem with that is the lack of contracts with the MLTCs of people that actually live in this community.
2:34:45
And that has stifled the growth of the program.
2:34:48
This program has been in our community since 1988.
2:34:51
And it's a little bit, you know, a confusion to me as to why now to close it when we're Rockaway is being built up with lots of senior housing.
2:35:02
And we really desperately need this program to remain open and to flourish and to grow.
2:35:08
And like Andrew said, definitely need a a true marketing person assigned to this particular, center.
2:35:15
Thank you for hearing me.
