Okay.
6:40:59
Thank you, chair, for this very important, hearing.
6:41:03
As always, you know, it's an honor to sit with you on these meetings and hear how much you care about our immigrant community.
6:41:10
My name is Tanisha Grant.
6:41:12
I am the executive director of Parent Supporting Parents New York and Moms United for Black Lives New York City.
6:41:17
We are based in Harlem and Washington Heights, and that's who I'm here to talk about.
6:41:22
I'm here to talk about our immigrant committee community that we work with in Harlem and Washington Heights, that really, really, really need to be supported.
6:41:31
We work heavily with the Mid Manhattan Adult Center, which is a learning sector.
6:41:35
So like my colleague said before me, we really, really need this this this funding for, all the, all of our families from across the seas, our migrants, and our asylum seekers who come here to learn and to build a life.
6:41:50
I wanna talk about our our black students, our black immigrants, our black migrants.
6:41:54
As we as many have said before us, you know, with the federal government, they are also coming down on our black immigrants and our our black migrants.
6:42:03
They just snatched, you know, temporary status from, like, 500,000 Haitian people, and some of them people live in our communities.
6:42:10
I would also like to advocate for more funding to community based organizations such as myself, funding that we got from discretionary funds last year, definitely helped us to feed, immigrant people in our community and to provide clothes and to provide, resources to them.
6:42:25
So, I just really hope that, you know, city council chair and that, you know, this committee will, really fight, for all of our people that are here regardless of where they come from and what language they speak.
6:42:40
They should have, resources, and they should have, language access.
6:42:45
Access.
6:42:45
A lot of our people who come here from West Africa, speak Wallace.
6:42:50
We speak a lot of different languages that are they are not, you know, privy to have translations.
6:42:56
So I would also advocate advocate for us to to to employ some of these people who are here that are translators and are willing to do the work.
6:43:06
You for your testimony.
6:43:07
